The Corvette
The Corvette: This project will be a testimony to Colin Chapman who said "If you add horsepower you go faster in a straight line, if you reduce weight you go faster everywhere".
In the spring of '09, a coworker told me I needed another car. Since I already had four, I thought he was joking. Then me mentioned that he had a '65 Corvette that he needed to sell. That Saturday I looked at it, and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I had always wanted to do a light weight Cobra replica, using the latest in technology, and realized this was an even better opportunity.
Zulu's heart is in the right place, but he's not much help in the garage. The lack of opposing thumbs is a real limitation with tools.
After a bunch of cleaning, I charged up the battery enough to try the headlight motors. Got one to work the first time Not bad!
The previous owner had done a good job of storing the top. So after working on the release latches and removing the hard top the convertible top saw daylight for the first time in about 6 years.
After a whole bottle of Meguire's "Back to Black" vinyl moisterizer the top was looking REALLY good!
With the hard top off, the lights fixed, and some cleaning the car looks pretty good!
